Krasnodar region plans to increase the export of agricultural products to Finland

This was discussed during the meeting of the Governor of the region Veniamin Kondratyev and the Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland in RF Mikko Hautala.

Half a year has passed since the last meeting between Veniamin Kondratyev and Mikko Hautala. At that time the Governor of Kuban and the Ambassador of Finland agreed to cooperate in the field of recycling of municipal solid waste.

According to the Governor of Kuban, a great number of tourists come to the region every year. Together with a tourist flow, the number of municipal solid waste is growing – up to 3.5 million tons per year.

– We are concerned with this situation. Now the point at issue is to eliminate waste rather than to dump it. This is a principal task that needs to be solved urgently. We are conducting negotiations with a Finnish company that is willing to apply its own technologies in the region, - noted Veniamin Kondratyev.

Mikko Hautala expressed his gratitude for the support of the enterprise that plants to enter the region to address the issue of waste treatment.

– I am aware that the Finnish company has started working you. And this work is of integrated nature. I am grateful for your support.  I am confident that the cooperation will be productive, - said Mikko Hautala.

Also, Veniamin Kondratyev expressed interest in the export of Kuban products to the Finnish market.

 – Our region has embarked on a course of the production of eco-products. We know that Finland has a high demand in such products, thus we are willing to establish export supplies. Kuban wine is a brand that doesn’t fall behind the global products in terms of the quality. I am sure that Kuban wine will appeal to residents of Finland and will embellish their table, - added Veniamin Kondratyev.

The Ambassador of Finland noted that the cooperation in this aspect is interesting for both parties. In particular, for the prospect of supplies of Kuban wine Mikko Hautala proposed to establish intercommunication with a state-owned company of Finland holding a monopoly on merchandise with low alcoholic beverages. In the near term representatives of the region will hold negotiations with them.

It is to be noted that the foreign turnover of Krasnodar region with Finland in 2018 made 82.5 million US dollars.
